the village of Monte Sant’Angelo and visit the Cave of San Michael. Our last destination today is San Giovanni Rotondo. Check in at the hotel – dinner and overnight. Day 9 - San Giovanni Rotondo, Assisi Breakfast at hotel and check out . Walk to the the Church in the Old Monastery where we celebrate Holy Mass. Then, go to the crypta of the new church, to pray on the tomb of San Pio. Some time at leisure before returning at board bus. Depart towards Assisi. Upon arrival, Check in at hotel, dinner and overnight Day 10 - Assisi This morning, we will have a walking tour of the Basilica of Saint Claire, the house of San Francis, the Upper and Lower Basilica of Saint Francis. We will break for lunch. Then, Continue to Rome. Dinner and overnight are at the hotel. Day 11 - Assisi, Rome Today, we will enjoy a walking tour to see the Trevi Fountain. Then, continue to the Pantheon and finally enjoy free time at Navona Square . Break for lunch Then, we will meet the local guide for the tour of the other major basilicas of Rome. Basilica of St. Mary Major which is the largest in Rome dedicated to the Blessed Mother. We will also visit the Basilica of St. John Lateran, which is the oldest of the major basilicas and ranks first as the actual “parish church” of the Pope (Bishop of Rome). There, we will learn about the Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs). Dinner and overnight are at the hotel. Day 12 - Wednesday Papal Blessing, Vatican Museums Early this morning, we head to San Peter’s square for Pope Francis’s Audience and Blessing. After the audience, there will be free time in San Peter’s square for shopping and lunch. Later, we will visit the Vatican Museums, which house what can be described as the most important collections of art in the world. Highlights include The Tapestry Gallery, The Raphael Rooms, and The Sistine Chapel, where we will gaze on Michelangelo’s incredible masterpiece. Finally, we enter the Basilica of St. Peter, which has the largest interior of any Christian church in the world. Tradition and historical evidence hold that St. Peter’s tomb is directly below the altar of this basilica. See the incredible Michelangelo’s Blessed Mother holding her crucified son known as the Pieta, and pray at the tomb of Saint John Paul II. Entoy time at leisure for shopping. Dinner and overnight are at the hotel.

Day 13 - Return to the USA

St. Padre Pio Padre Pio was born Francesco Forgione May 25, 1887, in Pietrelcina, Italy. Padre Pio came to the Capuchin monastery in San Giovanni Rotondo in 1916 and made his home there for 52 years until he died in 1968. Besides being devoted to God, he was known for caring for the sick and for supernatural powers. Pope John Paul II beatified him in 1999 and canonized him in 2002.
